During my five years with the Law Offices of Joseph Ash, I began my career as a lawyer
under the supervision and tutelage of Mr. Joseph Ash and other attorneys in his
employ. During this time, I performed many duties on behalf of Mr. Ash and worked
very closely with Mr. Ash. I also was able, during this period of time, to build my
own private practice. My major area of emphasis was Criminal Defense. During this five-year
period, I tried a number of criminal cases of which many were serious felony
matters. I also wrote and argued numerous Motions pertinent to the practice of
Criminal Defense. During my last several years of my association with Mr. Ash, I
began to practice Personal Injury Law on the
plaintiffs side.
- Private Practice - Started law practice 1984 as a Sole
Practitioner, Encino, California. I have been a sole practitioner with emphasis in
the areas of Criminal Defense and Personal Injury. I have litigated many
civil matters, including a large number of Personal Injury cases. The litigation
consisted of drafting Pleadings and Motions, arguing Motions, designing Discovery plans,
conducting Discovery, filing of Motions, arguing of Motions, and all other aspects of
pre-trial litigation.
- Criminal experience during this period of time includes
approximately twenty jury trials. During these trials I acted as a sole
practitioner, and was able to obtain desired results in a number of these cases.
Over the past several years, I have continued my sole practice
with an emphasis continuing on Criminal Defense and Personal Injury. Recently, I
have done work in Family Law, General Civil Law,
and all types of Custody and Support
cases, including work in the Juvenile and
Dependency Courts.
- Judge Pro Tem - During the years indicated, I sat as
Judge Pro Tem in various courts, including Municipal Court of the Los Angeles Judicial
District, the Municipal Court of the Malibu Judicial District, and the
Ventura County
Courts. I successfully completed a program in training and orientation for temporary
judges presented by the Los Angeles Municipal Court.
During my work as a Judge Pro Tem, I heard cases ranging from
Traffic Offenses and Small Claims cases to a few low grade Misdemeanor cases. During
the years between 1985 and 1991, I donated an average of at least one day per month to
various courts. I have Certificates of Appreciation from the judges of both Los
Angeles and Ventura Counties.
- Arbitrator - I have served as a Volunteer Arbitrator
on the panels of numerous courts throughout the Los Angeles area. Between
approximately 1989 and 1997, I conducted over fifty arbitrations involving many different
types of cases. A large number of these cases were Personal Injury Cases. Some
were General Civil Cases involving Manufacturing and Construction Defects, as well as
Insurance Claims. I have also received letters of appreciation from the courts for
which I performed these services.
